Inside Engaging Education: Meet the Copy Team

From the smallest community primary school to the largest national MAT, members of our Copy Team work their magic on websites, social media content, marketing collateral, brand identity, learning resources, and more. In 2021, the Copy Team at Engaging Education tripled from a one-person job to a three-person operation, increasing our capacity to help our partners tell their stories and reach their goals.

Building Brands

We have a dedicated team of copywriters as well as graphic designers because, when it comes to brands, how something sounds is just as important as it looks. Whether you’re a school, a Trust or a local authority, you need to make sure all your material looks and sounds like ‘you’. You wouldn’t publish something with the wrong logo on it, so you wouldn’t publish something with the wrong wording or tone of voice either – that’s where we can help.

Our Copy Team helps to create and refresh our partners’ brands, including their taglines, visions, values, and general tone of voice used across all communications. They are responsible for ensuring consistency across everything we do, so that tone of voice becomes a really valuable aspect of every project we work on.

For Sam, one of our Creative Copywriters, building a narrative for EE’s partners is a highlight of the job. ‘We develop strong relationships with every organisation we work with, which helps us to identify their ethos and goals,’ she says. ‘This is such an important part of the process as we get to really understand what makes them tick and what story we need to tell to help them succeed.’

Creating Campaigns

Once narrative and tone of voice have been established, the Copy Team works hard to create a range of strategic and engaging campaigns to help our partners reach their specific goals. This could be to increase student roll, support with attendance, improve community perception, promote engagement, or any number of key targets.

With a varied background in education, research, and marketing, our copywriters are equipped to develop unique and creative campaigns that grab the target audience’s attention and encourage action. These campaigns can be directed towards engaging businesses, supporting students, communicating with parents or raising awareness. Whatever the aim, the team tailors their approach to ensure our digital and print campaigns create real impact every time.

This is an aspect of the job that Daniel, Copywriting Assistant at EE since 2021, particularly enjoys. He says, ‘I particularly enjoy working on positive content designed to benefit and enrich young lives. Seeing my mental health poster content come to life with a beautiful design from Sam D was a highlight.’

Supporting Learning

As well as supporting with external communications, our Copy Team is excellent at writing content for exciting and effective resources that support learning in a wide range of settings. Whether they’re writing resources from scratch or developing content from an initial idea, our copywriters ensure that information is accurate, engaging and in line with our partners’ aims.

Creating resources to support learning is close to our heart at Engaging Education, as our roots are in delivering fun and informative workshops within schools.

Our original Creative Copywriter, Helen, was an English Teacher for eight years before applying her creative writing skills with us. Some of her favourite projects involve creating resources from scratch. ‘I imagined I would always be a teacher, but I wanted to pursue my love of writing,’ Helen says. ‘Luckily, EE allows me to combine my knowledge of education and creativity!’
