Virtual Work Experience
Over the last year, we’ve worked closely with the Leeds City Region Enterprise Partnership (LEP) to deliver engaging and meaningful work experience to young people despite Covid restrictions. So far, we have worked on virtual work experience (VWX) packs across four sectors: Construction, Manufacturing & Engineering, Creative & Digital and HealthTech.
We worked with the LEP to form connections with local organisations, creating films to showcase the variety of roles within each sector – particularly the ones that young people may not know about. We also put together activity booklets, or ‘Live Briefs’ which provide young people with tasks relating to three roles in each sector, all connected to core areas of the curriculum.
We’ve loved hearing from teachers and students who have used the VWX resources and found them useful, informative alternatives to face-to-face work placements. We continue to collaborate with the LEP to develop these resources further and ensure that young people across Leeds City Region have access to high-quality careers education despite current restrictions.
