Inside Engaging Education: Meet the Design Team

Engaging Education is a team made up of talented creatives who work hard to innovate and produce high quality, engaging content for our partners. We wouldn’t be able to do this without the fantastic members of our Design Team, who draw on their own unique experience and expertise to bring key messages to life.

The Design Team works on the visuals for a variety of projects for all our partners, including eye-catching interior projects, exciting prospectuses, stand-out social media assets, full rebrands and more.

Communications & Marketing

Perhaps the most common projects that the Design Team works on are various communications and marketing materials for our partner academies and Multi Academy Trusts. By applying official branding in a consistent but visually interesting way, our Designers turn plain text into effective tools, supporting our partners to flourish and grow.

This work can range from graphics which quickly grab stakeholders’ attention on social media to flyers or booklets which combine text, photo and design elements to provide readers with a real feel for the atmosphere of the provider.

Longer form materials such as prospectuses can take our Designers a few days to perfect, allowing them to really get stuck into the project. This may be why they often appear as a favourite material to work on, including for one member of the Design Team, Sam B. ‘My favourite project was one of my first – a prospectus for Northallerton School & Sixth Form College,’ he said. ‘Working on it really helped me to settle in to how we work at EE. I was really pleased with how it came out and the client loved it too!’

Learning Resources

As well as helping to promote our partners and their work, the Design Team supports them to develop a range of impactful learning resources. Whether this is working with academies on their student resources or supporting Local Enterprise Partnerships to present careers and skills information in an engaging way, the Design Team takes pride in bringing learning to life.

Jake, a Designer at EE since summer 2021, is particularly proud of his work with Accord Multi Academy Trust, developing booklets which promote students’ character development and awareness of a range of social issues. ‘It was nice to highlight such relevant issues and inform students in a creative and engaging way,’ he said. ‘I know that if information was presented to me in this way when I was at school, I would have retained more of it!’

Innovative Website Design

The Digital and Design Teams often work together to build and design beautiful websites, displaying information clearly and creatively for a range of clients.

For some of these projects, where graphics and other visuals are more prominent, the Design Team has a greater involvement in bringing websites to life. This is the case particularly when projects are delivered on platforms such as Shorthand which allow the incorporation of more varied design elements.

One project which used this platform was the Labour Market Information (LMI) report webpage for Leeds City Region. Sam D, who created the majority of the site, highlighted it as one of the standout projects she has worked on. ‘I loved designing all the aspects with such a fun, vibrant brand,’ she said. ‘I was involved with the project from start to finish, which involved the whole team collaborating and working on a new platform. It was really rewarding to see the final outcome.’

Brand Identity

Some of the largest projects the Design Team works on involve creating new and revitalising existing brand identities for our partners. Strong, consistent branding is essential for giving stakeholders a real sense of an organisation, and our Designers work hard to get new identities just right.

Imran, Design Director at EE since 2013, who often works on brand identity projects, said, ‘I enjoy digging deeper to really understand a client, their ethos, where their focuses lie. We use the insights from this research to create visuals which are cleverly linked to clients’ narrative, creating a truly recognisable brand.’

Once a brand has been created or refreshed, it is used by the whole Design Team on all new content, creating unity and consistency across everything our partners do.

These are just some examples of the amazing work our Design Team does to support our clients on a daily basis. At Engaging Education, we are extremely proud of the talent and motivation within our whole team to meet and exceed expectations on every project.
